About & data sources

How this site works, where the information comes from, and what it does not claim.

Why this website exists

Indian Railways and the Government of India already publish train and station information for the public — timetables, station lists, live enquiry boards and fare rules. It is spread across several systems and is not always easy to use on a phone. NexTrail collects that public information and shows it in one simple place, free of charge.

What we claim, and what we do not

  • Not an official Indian Railways, IRCTC, CRIS or government website, and no association is claimed.
  • No ownership of railway data is claimed — all rights remain with Indian Railways / Government of India and the respective publishers.
  • Only the design and software of this website are its operator's own work.
  • No tickets, no payments, no bookings, refunds or complaints are handled here.

Sources and credits

  • Railway information — publicly accessible Indian Railways enquiry services: live station boards, train details, routes and fares. Rights remain with Indian Railways / Government of India and the respective publishers.
  • Station and train lists — open government data published for reuse.
  • Place descriptions and photographsWikipedia, through its public API.
  • Maps — map data by OpenStreetMap contributors; tiles rendered by the OpenStreetMap Foundation; map library Leaflet (BSD-2-Clause).

Information is requested only when a visitor asks for it and is cached briefly to reduce load on the source. If any source owner would prefer their material not be shown here, write to ssvp@biasdesk.in and access will be stopped.

Wikipedia content — licence and attribution

The “About the place” summary and the “Places to see nearby” cards are fetched live from Wikipedia when a visitor opens a station page. Nothing is copied into this website's own database beyond a short-lived cache.

  • Wikipedia article text is made available by its authors under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). Every extract shown here is short, is marked as coming from Wikipedia, and links back to the source article, which carries the author history required for attribution.
  • Each photograph belongs to its own author and carries its own licence, shown on that file's page on Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons. Images are displayed from Wikimedia's own servers, with a link to the article they belong to; they are not re-hosted, sold or licensed by this website.
  • If you re-use any of that text elsewhere, the same CC BY-SA licence and attribution requirements apply to you — they are not waived by appearing on this page.
  • “Wikipedia”, “Wikimedia” and “Wikimedia Commons” are trademarks of the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. This website is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Wikimedia Foundation, and no such association is claimed. See the Wikimedia Terms of Use.
  • Wikipedia is written by volunteers and can contain mistakes or vandalism. Descriptions here are shown for interest only and are not verified by this website.
  • Any author, photographer or rights holder who would prefer their material not to appear here can write to ssvp@biasdesk.in; it will be removed promptly, and place information can be switched off for a station or for the whole site.

Map data — licence

Maps show map data from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL); the rendered tiles are used under the OpenStreetMap Foundation's tile usage policy. The attribution is shown inside every map, as that licence requires. Station coordinates come from open data published for reuse.

Accuracy

Everything is shown as received and may be delayed or incomplete. Where a value cannot be confirmed, the page says so instead of guessing. Please confirm important details with the official enquiry (139 / NTES) before travelling.
