Privacy policy

How this site works, where the information comes from, and what it does not claim.

Written in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What is collected

  • No accounts, no names, no phone numbers, no payment details.
  • What you type (a station code or train number) is used only to fetch that result.
  • Aggregate visit counts are stored locally. A one-way hash of IP and browser is used to count a visitor once a day and is discarded daily.
  • Your web host may keep standard access logs.

Cookies

A session cookie keeps admin sign-in, and a consent cookie remembers your choice. If advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use advertising cookies — how Google uses them, opt out.

Requests that leave this site

When you open a station page, your browser asks Wikipedia for the place summary and photographs and asks OpenStreetMap for map tiles. Those requests reach their servers directly, so they can see your IP address and browser as any website visit would. They are governed by the Wikimedia privacy policy and the OpenStreetMap privacy policy. Nothing about you is sent to them by us, and place information can be switched off entirely in the site settings.

Sharing and rights

Nothing is sold. Data goes only to the public railway sources needed to answer a query and to hosting/advertising providers acting on our behalf. You may ask what is held about you, or ask for erasure, at ssvp@biasdesk.in. We aim to respond within a few days.
